A New Studio-Based Body of Work

Alongside my ongoing landscape practice, I am currently developing a new body of work created entirely in the studio. This emerging series explores floral forms photographed under carefully controlled lighting conditions, allowing light, tone, and atmosphere to become the primary subjects of the image rather than the flowers themselves.

Each work begins with a considered studio arrangement and a lighting setup designed to soften form and reduce visual noise. By removing environmental variables, the studio environment allows for a more deliberate and restrained approach, where subtle shifts in light and translucency can be precisely observed and shaped. The resulting photographs move away from traditional botanical representation and instead sit closer to abstraction, where form gently dissolves and mood takes precedence.

Following capture, the images are refined using advanced processing techniques developed specifically for this project. These techniques are used sparingly and intentionally, not to manipulate the subject, but to further enhance atmosphere, tonal balance, and the sense of quiet presence within the frame. The aim is to produce images that feel ethereal and suspended, existing somewhere between representation and abstraction, without relying on overt digital effects.

This floral series is an ongoing project and forms a distinct extension of my practice rather than a departure from it. While these works are not yet available through NIKART, they will be released as a limited and exclusive edition in the near future. Further details will be shared once the series is formally introduced.
