Lake Tyrrell is a shallow, salt-crusted depression in the Mallee district of north-west Victoria, in Australia. Getting here is a 5 hour drive from Melbourne and staying the night is a must if you want to experience both a sunset and a sunrise. Tourism here has increased in recent years with bus loads of people being dropped off at the main viewing area but there isn’t much to see from there. To get the most out of this place you need to put your gumboots on and go for a hike, which is exactly what I did. Spent hours out here exploring the edge of the lake I came across these vein like muddy patterns flowing out towards the lake with an interesting empty beer bottle embedded in the mud. Could the beer contents have created this?
